Areas of Specialty

Trauma
I am a trauma specialist, meaning that I have advanced training in trauma and post-traumatic disorders. I often work with people who have survived very difficult experiences, and I do research, writing, and teaching about this. My goal is to help people thrive in the life that follows traumatic experience, knowing that we are all changed, in good ways and bad, by what happens to us.

Everyday Struggles
Most of my practice is dedicated to working with everyday struggles, transitions, and opportunities in the lives of everyday people. These include depression, anxiety, health challenges, aging, family life, work stress, and more.

Support for Parents of Special Needs Children
The stresses of parenting are intensified immeasurably when your child has special needs. I work with parents to manage stress, explore grief, hope, and anger, nurture marriage, and find joy in a challenging family life.

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
Change never felt so good! Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are great tools for relaxation, quitting smoking, losing weight, and making other changes you really desire.

Womens’ Issues
From adolescence through later years, women face particular challenges to self-esteem, self-care, sexuality, relationship to the body, caring for loved ones, and getting what we want for ourselves. I am always glad to work with women at all life stages, providing support and working toward peace and empowerment.

Mid-Life Reassessment
Part of adult development is stepping back to consider our satisfaction with the path we are on. Sometimes this is called a “mid-life crisis,” but it can be a time of positive growth. With respect and curiosity, we can explore what works, and what needs work, in your mid-life years.

Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender Life
My practice is a safe place to be yourself, using your unique gifts and circumstances to meet your life’s challenges and opportunities.

Recovery from Alcohol and Addiction
After a year or more of continuous sobriety, many people are ready to make changes and gain insight into their addictions and their lives, including relationships, work, self-esteem, self-expression, and hopes for the future. Recovery is so much more than just sobriety.

Caregivers
If you are caring for an aging parent, an ill spouse, or a loved one with ongoing difficulties, you may be looking for support. Combining practical concerns with insight into your own needs, we may find ways to ease the strain.

Therapists
I am delighted to provide therapy services to therapists, and to offer consultation on your client cases.

Please note that due to schedule and availability limitations, my practice is currently limited to people who are safe from self-harm.
